Ski vacation despite compulsory schooling: Bauer Langhans has to pay fine!

Ratzeburg. A dramatic legal proceedings caused excitement on Monday, November 4th! The farmer Johannes Langhans and his wife are on trial because they took their children out of school for a skiing holiday during school - and without permission! Judge Frank Rose repeatedly emphasizes: "This is only about the fact that their children were not present despite compulsory schooling." The tense atmosphere between the farmer and the headmaster, who was invited as a witness, is literally tangible.

Langhans had a similar incident in 2018 than he went on vacation with his children. At that time he was told that an application for a leave of absence would be rejected. "It is hardly possible for farmers to drive during the holidays, as this is the main time for sowing and harvesting," he said. Despite the rejection for their 2023 vacation, the family traveled anyway - and that had consequences! Headmaster Thomas Engelbrecht initiated the procedure after the children had unexcused wrong hours. "Otherwise it will open the door for special vacations," he warned.

facts is clear!

The prosecutor quickly stated: "Despite understandable explanations, there is a willful violation of the school law." Langhans, who occurred without legal assistance, emphasized that he was concerned with justice. But the court saw the matter differently. At 3:30 p.m. the judgment was made: 250 euros fine per child, a total of 1000 euros for the family! Judge Rose concluded with the words: "Unfortunately, all other details don't matter." Langhans and his wife left the courtroom angrily. "This is morally the bottom drawer," said Langhans.
