Ratzeburg's city council is promoting engagement strategy and blueprints

On Monday, October 14, 2024, the members of the Ratzeburg city council gathered in the town hall for the eighth meeting of the year. Under the chairmanship of Mayor Andreas von Gropper, the meeting initially noticed the proper invitation and quorum with 25 voting members. The agenda included important topics, including the development of a local engagement strategy, planning for the DRK Hospital and the revision of the city's noise action plan. The citizens were also invited to bring their questions, suggestions and suggestions.

A central result of the session was the unanimous decision to develop a engagement strategy that is supported as part of the “Dedicated City” network. The main goal of this strategy is to promote citizen participation by providing better framework conditions and resources such as information and cooperation. Several steps are planned for the implementation, including the application for funding and the integration of local organizations, such as the Diakonisches Werk Duchy of Lauenburg. A special project within this strategy will be the creation of a senior café that is integrated into demographic urban planning. The city of Ratzeburg plans to finance its own share of 20,000 euros through existing projects, whereby the senior café will act as a model project.

development plan for the DRK hospital

The development plan No. 84 for the DRK Hospital in the northern area of the Röpersberg was also decided unanimously. This plan creates the legal requirements for necessary extensions, conversions and new buildings at the hospital location. Interestingly, there were no statements from citizens during the public interpretation, and the feedback provided by the authorities was incorporated into the planning. The measures aim to secure the long -term use of the hospital location and to remedy its structural deficits. The total costs of planning and implementation are borne by the DRK hospital, based on an urban development contract that was concluded in April 2022.

Another important point in the session was the change in the parking space statute, which was supported with 20 votes in votes. This change concerns the subject to the parking space in the subsequent expansion of living space in the existing inventory, which has become necessary due to the new regulations in the state building regulations in Schleswig-Holstein from July 2024. The city continues to call for the creation of parking spaces to cover local needs and avoid conflicts to avoid public space. This met with resistance from the Green Group, which argued that the topic was necessary more flexible.

In contrast, there were different opinions as part of the update of the noise action plan. The SPD parliamentary group decided not to follow the previous plan, since important measures to reduce noise, such as the bypass, were postponed indefinitely. The updated noise mapping based on the CNOSSOS-EU process provided changed results that are now to be included in the new planning. Despite the critical voices, it was decided to adopt the updated plan with 14 votes in favor, 8 no votes and 3 abstentions.
