Lübeck construction site: Married couple fights for lawyers for months!

Lübeck. The Schuberts have been living in a real construction site albare for months! A motorway feeder for the new Semiramis industrial area is being built in Kronsford Landstrasse, and the couple has to deal with massive restrictions. They desperately searched for a specialist lawyer for building law to find out more about their rights. But the search was extremely frustrating.

"We started searching at the beginning of August and it was just to be desperate," reports Michael Schubert. Four law firms rejected because they could not help due to conflicts of interest because they work for the KWL or have worked in the past. Other law firms did not respond to their inquiries, although agreements had already been made. "Why do the lawyers suddenly no longer show any interest?" Asks Schubert.

Dietrich Schenke, specialist lawyer for building law from Flensburg, has an explanation for the strange behavior of the lawyers. "It is a stitch that I have observed all over Germany! Commissioned large clients to ensure that they do not work against them," he explains. This tactic, known as "shoot out", ensures that lawyers hesitate to accept mandates from private individuals because they fear future orders.

The KWL, which is responsible for the construction work, rejects the allegations and emphasizes that mandates are only awarded on the basis of the professional suitability. But after two months, the Schuberts finally found a lawyer who was ready to represent their interests. "Our driveway was damaged during the construction work," says Schubert. "We just want everything to look like before - without additional costs for us."
