Zwickau is preparing for winter: winter service ready for snow and ice cream!

Zwickau, Deutschland - Winter knocks on the door and the city of Zwickau is ready! The urban winter service has made all preparations in order to be able to react quickly to the first snowfalls or dangerous smoothness. With 16 vehicles, including 6 trucks and 7 multicars, a powerful team is ready to keep the city's streets safe. Some of these vehicles are already converted for winter service, while others are still in repair but can be made ready for use at any time.

The warehouses are filled with 2,300 tons of road salt, 25 tons of brine and 30 tons of split - enough to secure the streets even in violent winter weather. Winter service starts regularly on December 2, 2024 and is operated in 2-shift operation from Monday to Friday. On weekends and public holidays, the service is in standby mode from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. But be careful: If winter strikes earlier, the service will be activated immediately!

In addition to urban winter service, the garden and cemetery office with 4 special vehicles ensures safety in parks and green areas. Here there are 50 m³ light bloated slate and 2 tons of road salt. The employees are prepared to keep important connection paths between residential areas and stops of local public transport. The popular circular paths in the Schwanenteichpark and Schlosspark Planitz are also cleared if possible.

The city appeals to all road users to park their vehicles in such a way that winter service vehicles can work unhindered. Property owners should also be willing to free sidewalks from snow and ice without blocking the cleared place on the street. Zwickau is prepared for winter - and the citizens are called to contribute to this!
