Scandal around Glauchauer OB: Disciplinary procedure after assault!

Zwickau, Deutschland - The Mayor of Glauchau Marcus Steinhart (48, CDU) can breathe a sigh of relief! After a scandalous incident, in which he confronted a 13-year-old for bullying allegations and struck it, he does not have to fear any further consequences under business law. The police had already investigated and Steinhart was sentenced to a fine of 10,500 euros in 2023 for intentional assault and threat. But that was not the end of the story!

District Administrator Carsten Michaelis (51, CDU) had initiated disciplinary proceedings to clarify whether additional measures against the politician are necessary. The exam showed that the incident took place outside of his official activity and that the risk of repetition was assessed as low. Steinhart had publicly apologized after the incident and expressed his regret.

The district made it clear: "Disciplinary law does not have the function of a double punishment," said district spokesman Sebastian Brückner (34). After examining the situation, it was decided that the criminal consequences are sufficient. The disciplinary procedure was officially stopped on September 20, 2024. Another scandal that would have shaken the political landscape in Glauchau is therefore missing!
