Schkeuditz: Trade tax booms! Massive income and new opportunities!

Schkeuditz. The city of Schkeuditz is optimistic about its trade tax revenue. The forecasts indicate that they could increase to around 119.4 million euros in 2025 - an almost five -man increase compared to around 25 million euros this year. The city administration prompted this prospect to reduce the trade tax rate from 390 to 300 percent, which indicates the trust in an upcoming state of stars.

The assumption that a large company is responsible for increasing the income was reinforced by a note in the draft for the 2025/26. The "announced resettlement of a company" is spoken here. Mayor Rayk Berger sees reliable references to significant additional income that should make it possible to reduce the tax burden for existing companies. Rumors indicate that it could be the logistics group DHL that plans to bring several outer locations together in Schkeuditz.

Corporate shift and future outlook

However, it is still unclear whether DHL's divisions are actually relocated to Schkeuditz. The company itself manifests itself and does not comment on internal structural changes. Apparently no final decision has yet been made within the DHL board, which explains the uncertainty in both the city and the potential new tax payers.

trade tax is particularly important for municipalities because it is one of the most important sources of income. Schkeuditz plans to increase these income considerably, which also gives the city the opportunity to make larger investments in the infrastructure. With the increasing population and the associated growth of commuter flows, there are considerable projects, including the expansion of Altscherbitzer Straße as well as the construction of a new swimming pool and the expansion of the Lessing primary school.

A total amount of more than 10 million euros is required for these developments, based on the planned expenditure from 2025. It is expected that Schkeuditz not only grows economically through these measures, but also further improves its attractiveness as a location for companies.

In summary, Schkeuditz shows itself on a promising path to change the economic landscape. The reduction in trade tax rate is intended to attract companies and thus also reduce the economic pressure of recent years. This could prove to be strategically wise, especially since the city comes along with the lowest rate in Saxony.
