In the district of North Saxony, two new emergency medical vehicles (NEF) are now in use. After two and a half years in which the planning, tendering and construction of the vehicles took place, they could now be ceremoniously handed over to the Maltese in Schkeuditz and the DRK in Eilenburg. These modern emergency vehicles should help to further improve emergency care in the region.

The new vehicles, VW T6, are equipped with a powerful engine that develops 204 hp. This not only ensures a quick journey to emergencies, but also security on the often challenging road conditions. The district has invested in around 390,000 euros for the purchase and renovation of the new emergency medical vehicles. These costs are covered by the fees for the use of the emergency services. According to Jens Kabisch, it is crucial that coordination with the health insurance companies is smooth, as they act as a cost bearer. "The regular procurement and the modernization process are essential, especially in the case of around 10,000 emergency medical operations in northern Saxony," adds Kabisch.
