New ASB service house in Oschatz: Perspectives for all generations!
Torgau/Oschatz. The worker Samaritan Bund (ASB) Torgau-Schatz, founded in November 1990, now has around 2100 members. The district association is active in various social areas, including daycare centers and retirement homes, and currently employs 290 people. Under the direction of managing director Thomas Reichel, an expansion strategy to the Oschatz region is being followed in order to expand the existing offer and to better cover the need on site.
As part of a general meeting, Reichel informed those present about the solid basis of the organization and the planned steps. "We are the only ASB structure in Saxony to pay our employees wages over the statutory minimum wage because we implement the public service tariff," he said. This shows that the district association is well positioned and appreciates its employees, which is important for motivation and commitment in the social sector.plan expanded offers in Oschatz
The ASB already operates two children's facilities in Oschatz and in Wermsdorf and offers help for education and support for families. Thr extended focus on Oschatz is to be supported by a new project, the "ASB service house Oschatz". A centrally located property on the church square has already been rented to develop new services there. From October 1st, the first courses, especially for first aid, begin.
"We want our offers not only complement the existing services, but also offer new initiatives, such as course and advisory services," said Reichel. This also includes special training for first aid, which are intended for both driver's license candidates and parents of toddlers. "In addition, we also want to offer a course for first aid for dog owners, which is already successful in Torgau and Dommitzsch," added Reichel.
The ASB plans to carefully and sustainably expand this concept. A driving service that is missing in the region is also to be taken into account in the future planning of the ASB service house. The close cooperation with the city of Oschatz was pointed out, which supported the project and also helped with the acquisition of the property. This shows a positive cooperation between social sponsorships and local administration.
Reichel emphasizes that ASB expansion should not be understood as a competition with other social institutions. "We do not want to create additional competitors, but together with other charities offer a comprehensive offer to support the population," he said. The constant development of the offers is important in order to meet the needs of the residents.
Future of employees in the eye
Another focus of the discussion was the future use of the “Schlumpfhausen” children's facility, which the ASB is currently operating. This will be closed in 2027 because the city of Oschatz plans to open a new central daycare center, which will then also be subordinate to the city administration. "It is our goal to keep our well -trained employees in the organization. We are very grateful for their work and want to offer them a perspective," said Reichel.
These planned steps illustrate the commitment of the ASB Torgau-Schatz to actively shape the social infrastructure in both Torgau and Oschatz. Reichel is optimistic that the new institutions and offers are enriched with the social offer in Oschatz and that the ASB can play a central role in the further development of social services in the region.
