New emergency doctor vehicles for northern Saxony: speed and security guaranteed!
In the streets of northern Saxony, two completely new emergency medical vehicles (NEF) are now in use. These vehicles were recently handed over to the Maltese of the rescue station in Schkeuditz and the German Red Cross (DRK) in Eilenburg after a two and a half year planning phase, which included both tenders and the construction period. With this investment, the district ensures that the emergency services are up to date with the latest technology.
The newly procured vehicles are VW T6 with a power of 204 hp. These minibuses are constructed in such a way that even in difficult weather or road conditions, thanks to their permanent all-wheel drive and automatic transmission, they quickly reach their destination. Jens Kabisch, the second deputy responsible for the emergency services, emphasizes that new standards are set with these vehicles in the areas of efficiency, equipment and security.
Investments and adjustments
The district has invested a total of around 390,000 euros in these new emergency vehicles. However, this is not just an output, but is refinanced by the emergency services. The close cooperation with the service providers, which were able to influence the design, was particularly important for the development of the vehicles. For example, the ergonomic stowing of emergency equipment in the vehicles was taken into account in order to ensure quick operational readiness. In addition, the new vehicles are equipped with a striking LED blue light and compressed air signal system, which ensures good perception in road traffic.
The emergency measures in northern Saxony are not low, around 10,000 emergency medicines have to be handled every year. This high number underlines the need to keep the vehicles up to date. Jens Kabisch emphasizes how important the close coordination with the health insurance companies is as a cost bearer in order to continue to be able to buy and modernize new technology regularly in the future.
The new emergency vehicles are now in use in Schkeuditz and Eilenburg to ensure the medical care of the population.
