Fish festival in Torgau: Visitors flock to the big fishing on the pond!
Torgau. On the first weekend in November, fishing at the big pond attracted thousands of visitors again. In bright sunshine and mild temperatures, people crowded to try the delicious fish specialties. But patience was asked, because the long queues testified to the great demand. The dealers were happy about the lively sale of their fresh delicacies.
Georg Stähler, managing director of the pond industry, reported the challenges of fishing. "It's just too warm, the fish are still far out and very active," he said. While the first attempts on Saturday morning were rather lean, the operators hope for better conditions if the nights become cooler. Visitors, including many children, intently followed the action on the pond, while the staff of the pond management caught the fish with an 80 -meter -long network.
Rich fishing is expected
The expectations are high: around 50 tons of fish, especially carp, are to be harvested. Despite the threat from hungry cormorants, which decimated the existence of smaller wild fishing, the situation for the carp, which is only caught from two years, is harmless. Visitors were able to look forward to a variety of fish dishes, from fried fish fillet to freshly prepared fish soup, which is a hit every year.
Visitors from all over the region, even from Nünchritz and Brandenburg, traveled to experience the spectacle up close. "We are here for the first time and we like it great," said Ramona and Steffen Schulze, who had come especially for the event. Many children were also enthusiastic and enjoyed the different fish dishes. For those who don't like fish, there was also steak and bratwurst. The large pond in Torgau remains a popular destination for fish lovers and families alike.
