Bookstore Engler under New Head: fresh wind for Delitzsch!
Delitzsch. In Delitzsch, the local bookstore Engler is faced with a change. After the takeover by the new owner Matthias Tandler in March 2024, not only the location of the traditional bookstore changed, but the range was also expanded and refined. Tandler, also the managing director of the Graditz stud, brings a breath of fresh air to the shops and plans to further optimize the service.
The bookstore, which until recently was at Eilenburger Strasse 2, changed its place after 43 years. The new location at Eilenburger Strasse 11 can now be found. The old location is adopted by an optician chain, which accelerated the need for a relaunch for the bookstore. Tandler is enthusiastic about the new possibilities and says: "I would do it again immediately".
range has grown and has changed
The new location offers enough space for a selection that appeals to younger and especially English-language titles. A special corner is dedicated to 100 current English-language books, while the range of New Romance and New Adult novels for young adults also attracts trend-conscious readers. This range increasingly attracts young readers, which Tandler rates positive for the future of reading.
In addition to the content of the content, the bookstore remains true to its core business: children's literature and fiction for adults are still the main attractions. However, the challenges of the German book market cannot be denied. The Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandel reports of a decline in bookstores that presented Tandler with possible challenges.
In order to compete against online competition, Matthias Tandler has set up a new supplier structure. The customer now has more than 6.3 million books and audio books to choose from. In addition, interested parties can now also acquire e-book readers, especially Tolinos, directly in the bookstore. These innovations are intended to help customers access their reading behavior more flexible and more contemporary.
In 2024, pick-up subjects are to be set up
One of the most exciting developments plans to plan, are lockable collection subjects in front of the bookshop. These are to be set up by the end of the year, which enables customers to collect books regardless of opening hours. Tandler is considering setting up further pick -up subjects in the surrounding districts.
The online presence of the bookstore is also reinforced. Using the website www.engler24.de, customers can now create their own order account and order their desired books regardless of the opening hours. You choose whether you want to have your orders collected or delivered.
In addition, the cultural part of the bookstore remains active. As part of events, there will be readings and special browse evenings again, in which interested parties can browse through undisturbed. The first events are already sold out, as the reading with animal keeper Jörg Gräser shows on October 25th. An additional date for December is new, when the popular stories are presented again.
The Engler bookstore shows how tradition and modern demands can be combined in an increasingly digital age. Tandler and his team set a clear sign for the future of inpatient book trade in Delitzsch and beyond. More information can be found in the detailed article on www.lvz.de .
