Belgern, Deutschland - In Belgern, the former stoneware factory is converted into a new event bistro that will bear the name "The Work". According to torgauer Zeitung is planned for the opening party for April 5, while the regular canteen operation is scheduled to start on April 8th. The guest room of the new restaurant is almost completed, but adjacent rooms still need extensive work, including the installation of new toilet facilities and kitchen work. Matthias Lehmann, the operator, was optimistic that the first beer could be tapped in January.
Especially as a party location, "The Work" comes up, with the large hall serving as a heart. The first Italian night is planned for September 27th, and the tenth grades of the Evangelical High School Belgern-Schildau are planning their end in the new bistro. It also becomes lively for Matthias Lehmann, who will celebrate his stage anniversary there as Udo Lindenberg-Double. Lehmann's takeover of the bowling alley in Taura in July 2023 was the first step into the conversion, which began in September. Particularly noteworthy is the range of wild oysters that are available on Fridays for 6 euros each. The beverage menu includes homemade Amalfi-Lemonade and Kombucha tea as well as about 100 wines from Germany, Austria, France and Italy. With space for 30 guests and a tasteful furnishings in wood and warm light, the operators also plan outdoor spaces in the summer of 2025. The sommelier and restaurant manager Volker Arndt heads the team, which wants to offer the guests communication evenings in a relaxed frame without a menu compulsion.
