Winter service in Central Saxony: 10,400 tons of salt for icy roads ready!
Hainichen, Deutschland - In the coming weeks, preparations for the winter service season in the Middle Saxony district will be completed. The responsible roadmasters are to take all the necessary measures to ensure security on the streets in the cold season. The salt bearings have already been filled and the technology was extensively checked in the official workshop in Hainichen.
"The cold season is always a challenge for us. We are therefore very grateful that numerous companies from the region will support us again this year," says Dirk Schlimper, head of the street operating service and building management department. With 32 vehicles and additional employees, strong support is ensured. In addition to these, a further 28 of the master's own vehicles from the cities of Freiberg, Brand-Erbisdorf, Mühlau, Hainichen, Rochlitz and Döbeln are used.
efficient application planning and technology
The time of the winter service vehicles begins at three in the morning depending on the weather and often extends until late at night, usually until 10:00 p.m. Schlimper informs: "If there are very bad weather conditions, then it is also carried out", which is more considered an exception. The entire route that is supervised includes around 1,600 kilometers of district, state and federal roads.
Important is also important to Schlimper to all road users: In winter conditions, drivers should plan more time. "The employees in the masteries and the companies do a lot during this time, but they cannot be everywhere at the same time." A round until a vehicle reaches the same place again takes about two and a half to three hours.
One of the key technologies used this winter season is the moisture salt technology FS 30. "This means that this is moistened immediately before the solids are applied with a salt solution," explains Dirk Hänel, who is responsible for devices and traffic technology. This method reduces the loss of scatter through life and ensures better liability of the salt on the road.
In addition, innovative stray devices are used in the district, which automatically and temperature -dependent on the road temperature. "This control is important because the road surface temperatures sometimes differentiate greatly," adds Hänel.
For the coming winter season, 10,400 tons of salt have already been ordered. In addition, 6,700 tons are currently stored, which is an extensive preparation for the challenges of winter.
All affected areas are well informed and ready to ensure security on the streets this year. In a country whose winter is often unpredictable, this meticulous planning of responsibility and professionalism testifies.
