VW Golf on flames: dramatic use of the Leisnig fire brigade!

Leisnig/Minkwitz. On Saturday afternoon a VW golf driver experienced a nightmare on the S36 between Hartha and Leisnig. On the Minkwitzer country road, she suddenly noticed smoke from her vehicle. At a brave moment she stopped the car and jumped out in good time before the accident took its course.

The woman was hardly out of the car, a blazing inferno broke out! A technical defect made the VW Golf open in flames. Nine firefighters from the Leisniger weir hurried to fight the impending chaos, led by Steve Rockstroh. But fate had other plans: the fire engine's tank fire engine was defective, and so the brave rescuers had to ask the Bockelwitz local fire brigade for support.

The extinguishing work began, but the water rose quickly! With only 1,600 liters on board, the fire brigade was not sufficiently prepared. "We had no water for about ten minutes," said Rockstroh. There was no hydrant in Minkwitz and the fire brigade had to wait for supplies. In the meantime, the VW Golf burned to recognition, and the road and a traffic sign were also affected. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed, but the total damage is estimated at around 30,000 euros.

The street in Minkwitz was fully closed on Saturday afternoon because of the extinguishing work.
