Street festival in Döbeln: After years of the construction site there is a party!

Döbeln. The residents of Nordstraße celebrated a very special street festival last Tuesday afternoon! Tables and benches were set up across the street, while the neighbors brought a delicious selection of sandwiches, pastries and homemade spreads. There was fragrant coffee and later mulled wine. This celebration was not only a festival, but also a big thank you to the construction workers!

After almost one and a half years of constant construction site activity in Döbeln's largest construction project, Nordstraße was now closed to traffic. The LFT craftsmen not only perfected the road surface, but also brought the sidewalks to a high gloss. The residents, led by Gottfried Steuer and Sabine Rötzsch, had the brilliant idea of organizing a festival in order to appreciate the construction workers for their efforts and strengthen the neighborhood. "You only greet each other from afar, but here the community came together," noted tax.

The construction of the Nordstraße was a lengthy process that started five years ago, but ultimately patience paid off. "A smooth street surface and renewed lines, as well as empty pipes for the fiber optic cable, were laid," said Steuer. "We worked closely with the builders and they worked deeply in the ground in extreme heat," said the praising words of tax, which made the respect for the construction workers of the LFT.

Ten construction workers took part in the festival and enjoyed the delicious dishes as part of this warm gesture. Christian Fischer, managing director of the LFT, was pleased with the gratitude of the residents. "This is not a matter of course, we are usually looking forward to simple greetings," he said while pointing out the challenges that were connected to the construction. While the last 100 meters of sidewalk and some markings are still standing, everyone is preparing for the reopening of Nordstrasse - and at the same time for the risk that the new road will become a racetrack!
