Leisnig: Historical gymnasium soon shines in new splendor!

Leisnig. The historic gymnast next to the Peter-APian high school is becoming a modern sports facility! A look at the construction site shows that the parquet floor is missing and thick wooden beams dominate the picture. But don't worry, the charming old style is preserved, while monument protection officers and city administration are compromised to meet the requirements of today.

Mayor Carsten Graf (independent) reported in the technical committee that the work in the ceiling area has been completed. New heating plates and LED lighting have been installed, and the large windows are now made of care-easy plastic-a real profit for the municipality, which had to be used to maintain the regular care of wooden windows. The optical impression is preserved through the rung -like division.

Repair was no longer enough for indoor floor

The city councils had to decide: A repair of the old sports floor would only have been a waste of money because the damage was more profound than expected. Instead, the establishment of a new sports floor was decided. When this is finished, the electrical cabling in the hall is completed, and after refreshing the wall colors, nothing stands in the way of the release of the hall to the users.

The athletes have had to look for alternative training opportunities in the past few months because the hall urgently had to be renovated. But the other sports halls in Leisnig are also very busy, and free capacities are rare. The renovation work in the school gymnasium costs around half a million euros, supported by funding from the federal program "Living Centers". The future of the Saxonia gymnasium, however, remains uncertain, since it has been talked about necessary investments for over ten years without concrete plans.
