Freiberg: Emergency rescue urgently needed - increase the ambulance!
Freiberg (FG)- The district of Mittelachsen has recently commissioned an expert opinion to determine the need for rescue and patient transport cars. Based on the operational data of one year, it can be seen that there is a clear deficiency in the area of emergency rescue. This was explained by Jacqueline Preiß, the head of the fire protection department, emergency services and disaster protection.
The need for an increase in the emergency services fleet resulted from several factors. "We see both an increased volume of use and a longer duration of the missions," said Preiß. The reason for this is also the increased distances to the nearest hospitals, which brings additional challenges for the rescue team.

Mittelachsen has 17 rescue guards, which together mastered around 80,000 missions in 2023. Average 2,300 ambulances and 3,500 emergency operations per month were recorded. Around 16 percent of the emergency operations required the alarm of an emergency doctor. These figures illustrate the pressure under which the emergency services and the urgency of the planned measures.
The adjustments in the emergency services are of great importance, not only for the number of operations, but also for the safety and health of the population in the region.
