They lay new medium -voltage cables on behalf of the Stadtwerke Döbeln. Mirko Lößner, the head of the power grid department, explained that civil engineering work on the Niedermarkt will begin the following week. It is planned to strengthen the local network and also install two new supply lines. In order to cross the rails of the horse -drawn tram, the municipal utilities use already laid empty pipes.

Gunnar Fehnle, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Döbeln, stated that all work should be completed by the end of November. The renewal of the medium -voltage cables, which date from the time of the GDR and have often caused disorders lately, have already been initiated in summer. In the course of these measures, the low -voltage cables and cable distributors were also renewed.

In addition, a comprehensive construction site in the Stockhausen district has been running for a few weeks. Here the municipal utilities are building a new, company -owned transformer and at the same time renew the local network. Particularly noteworthy is the exchange of an old, troubleshooting cable from the 1970s.

In the past two years, Stadtwerke Döbeln has invested around seven million euros in the renewal and expansion of their power grid. A particularly large part of these investments flows into the new, approximately ten -kilometer -long relief rod, which has an output of six megawatts. This runs from the substation station on Stockhausener Weg via Döbeln-Nord to Döbeln-Ost and also includes Gärtitz in order to operate the growing electricity requirements of the industrial areas of Döbel-Ost and Fuchsloch.
