Barbershops in Döbeln: competition for hairdressers or new diversity?

Barbershops in Döbeln: competition for hairdressers or new diversity?

In Döbeln, a number of barbershops have established themselves in recent years. There are currently four such shops in the city that are not only popular with men, but also ensure conversation in the community. Grit Neumann, the operator of a hairdressing salon in Stadthausstrasse, has found that customers repeatedly switch to the new barbershops. Although some of them return later because they find the volume or the language barriers in the shops uncomfortable.

Neumann says that the increasing number of these shops, as well as those of kebab snacks, endanger cultural diversity and tradition in small cities. One reason for the popularity of barbershops could be less regulated access to the market. While hairdressers are subject to a master's compulsion, Barbershops are not obliged to own a master's certificate as long as they limit themselves to barra. This variant of the craftsmanship is classified by the Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts as a less necessary craft.

Robert Gruner, spokesman for the Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts, said that Barbershop owners have to prove that they or their employees have the necessary qualifications. Otherwise, they face exams and possibly fines or even a subcontractor. However, Grit Neumann has observed that many owners cannot show such evidence. She fears that there is a lack of control in these shops.

Especially the strict requirements that have to comply with hairdressing salons to Corona often do not seem to be implemented in barbershops. Neumann explains that every customer has to get the hair washed in front of a haircut, while in barbershops they often do not perceive such facilities. She suggests that the applicable rules should apply consistently to all companies without exceptions.

other atmosphere in barbershops

Nevertheless, some barbershop owners see the situation calmly. Ahmad Saied Alo, who runs a barbershop in Döbeln, offers a variety of services, from haircuts to bare trashes and styles. He emphasizes that every consumer has the choice where he wants to use his services and that the atmosphere in his shop is rather relaxed. He also heard of symptoms, but does not feel responsible for it.

Alo recognizes the concerns of hairdressers because the competition increases. Nevertheless, he emphasizes that the range of hairstyles, especially in terms of bare trash, is valued by him and his colleagues. "We offer something that some German hairdressers do not offer," he says, adding that the demand for these services is still high. In this competition for customer voices, quality is the decisive criterion that both strives for both hairdressing salons and barbershops.

In summary, it can be found that the development of numerous barbershops in Döbeln arouses both celebrity and concern among the more traditional hairdressers. It remains to be seen how this rivalry will develop around customers in the future and whether further regulatory measures will be necessary to equate market conditions.
