A dramatic incident occurred in Lithuania: a DHL freight aircraft that started from Leipzig crashed near Vilnius on Monday morning. Tragically, the pilot, a Spanish citizen, died. In addition, several passengers were injured, including a German citizen. Lithuania President of Gitanas Nauseda visited the scene of the accident and assured that the investigation was carried out thoroughly. "We don't know what the conclusions of the investigation will look like, but we will never panic," he emphasized. In the meantime, residents reported a shocking experience: "Everything was red and full of sparks," said a woman who witnessed the accident. A neighbor noticed a light flash of light, followed by smoke and fire, when the plane just missed a residential building.
The German Federal Affairs Office for Flight Accident Investigation will also be on site to support the investigation. So far, there is no secure information about the health of the injured, and the authorities are covered by further details.
