RB Leipzig conquers the top of the table - Mainz without a chance in home game

Mainz, Deutschland - On Saturday, RB Leipzig impressively won the 1st FSV Mainz 05 and secured three important points in the Bundesliga. While the Mainzer struggled, their chances remained in short supply. Leipzig, on the other hand, used his occasions effectively, jumped to the top of the table and thus strengthened the position as one of the strongest team in the league.

At the beginning of the game, it only looked as if Mainz could win the upper hand. Nevertheless, it was Leipzig's Xavi who scored the first decisive goal and thus gave his team an advantage. Although Mainz coach Bo Henriksen had to do without the injured Hanche-Olsen and does not play Kohr due to a yellow lock, the team held on to their defensive strategy. Instead of Kohr, Costa played in the defense series.

Leipzig's strength and Mainz weaknesses

Both trainers had to make adjustments, but while Leipzig came up with a new 3-4-3 formation, Mainz tried, but had difficulty creating equal opportunities. Leipzig's players acted concentrated and used Mainz's mistakes. It was particularly noteworthy how Mainz goalkeeper Zentner reacted at the first goal of Xavi after the shot found through his legs into the net. The score had also been decisively influenced by Orban's second goal after another shot from Leipzig's Openda Zentner did not keep up.

The second half began not very exciting before Mainz scored a little hope in the 67th minute when Caci made a dangerous shot that Leipzig's goalkeeper Gulacsi was able to defend decisively. However, Leipzig remained defensive, and despite several occasions, the attacking Benjamin Sesko missed the third goal. He failed several times due to Zentner, who was able to save his team the result.

The game took place in the Mewa Arena in front of 30,100 spectators who, despite the deficit on the part of the Mainz, acted as a passionate supporter. Leipzig once again showed why they have the best defensive in the league and remain unbeaten. The victory has opened worlds for the next games, while Mainz has now slipped to 11th place in the table and will have to compete against Gladbach next week. RB Leipzig will play Liverpool in the premier class on Wednesday and then receive Freiburg on Saturday.
