Midwife training in Halle: twice as many places for the future!

Halle (Saale), Deutschland - Halle/Mz. - A milestone for midwife training! At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), the first students started their dual bachelor's degree in midwifery last year. The pressure on the training has increased enormously and the MLU has now doubled the capacities! Instead of only 20 places, up to 42 prospective midwives can now start their career every year. A real ray of hope for the industry!

Minister of Health Petra Grimm-Benne emphasizes: "Saxony-Anhalt has created the possibility of an own academic training of midwives. At the same time, we also campaigned to greatly improve the personnel situation of the midwives in the clinics." This groundbreaking decision follows a comprehensive study that has determined the need for midwives in Saxony-Anhalt. The doubling of the study places is a crucial step to secure young people and to improve the quality of care in the future!

Practical training and high demand

The practical training is the heart of the program. From the first year, the students will be optimally prepared for their practical phases. Course director Sabine Striebich emphasizes the importance of networking with practice: "The practical training at the university and the university support of the students in their missions create good networking with practice." In this semester, all 21 practice places at the University Hospital Halle and its cooperation clinics were filled - a sign of the high demand!

The combination of scientifically sound teaching and personal support makes Halle a lighthouse in academic midwife training. Striebich summarizes: "The positive development of our course shows that we are on the right track." The future of the midwives in Saxony-Anhalt looks rosy-and that's a reason to celebrate!
