In the night of January 7, 2024, there was a gruesome incident in Bischofswerda when Aleksander J. (45) fatally injured his brother Sergei in a dispute with a knife. The trial against the accused began on December 20, 2024 at the Görlitz district court. While the prosecutor read the indictment, Aleksander remained motionless, while relatives present had tears in her eyes. According to the indictment, both brothers were heavily drunk and met with their companions on the Altmarkt, where a violent dispute over the not attended father escalated, as the Saxon reported.

In the middle of the angry word battle, Aleksander initially attacked one of his brother's companions with a knife and seriously injured him. The situation continued to develop when Sergej started with a folding saw on Aleksander's companion, which resulted in further injuries. The dispute between the brothers then culminated in a brutal body fight, in which Aleksander finally stood four times with a knife on Sergej, which suffered serious injuries to the heart and lungs. Despite the rescue measures, Sergej fell into a coma at around 3:38 a.m. due to his high blood loss in Bischofswerda and died a few hours later. Aleksander was arrested shortly afterwards and has been in custody since then, as TAG24 reported.

The indictment levies allegations against Aleksander for dangerous bodily harm and manslaughter. On the trial day it was found that the central expert - a psychiatrist - was not present, which led to the delay of the procedure. A continuation of the process is planned for January 13, 2025, which other experts are also expected.
