Rent in Saxony are increasing: worries about single parents and pensioners!

in Saxony, the rental price situation is bubbling! People have to dig deeper and deeper into their pockets to have a roof over their heads. Housing becomes a financial challenge, especially in the big cities such as Dresden and Leipzig. But not only in the cities, but also in rural regions, living is becoming increasingly expensive. Rents are increasing, and that is what makes many work!

The parliamentary group Die Linke in the Saxon state parliament made the alarm and checked the Ministry of Regional Development. They wanted to know how high the rents are in the country and whether people had to pay more in 2023 than in the previous year. The ministry's answer is alarming: Even in counties such as North Saxony, Leipzig, Meißen and Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Mountains, the residents have to pay more and more for their apartments!

Particularly affected: low earners and single parents

Juliane Nagel, the local apartment policy spokeswoman for the left, draws attention to the dramatic situation. People with low incomes are particularly affected, such as single parents and pensioners who live alone. For them, it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage the rising rental costs. The need is great and the worries grow!

Another critical point: Many apartment associations are under pressure. You urgently need funding to build new social housing. But reality looks different: the associations first have to renovate many old apartments and at the same time observe the strict climate protection rules that apply to the construction of new apartments. The location is tense and time is pushing!
