Sternmarsch in Chemnitz: Discover the city's history up close!

On January 11, 2025, the club of the guided guides Chemnitz e. V. (VGC) A special “warm-up” for the upcoming cultural capital year. On this occasion, the VGC invited to a star march that extended over several city hotspots and appealed to interested parties.

The meetings took place in the Hartmann factory, which served as a visitor center. During the event, the members of the VGC presented insights into their preparations for the Capital of Culture. This also included historical costumes in which the tour guides appeared as important people in Chemnitz, such as Richard Hartmann and Mönch Thomasius. Ramona Wagner, who appeared as Bertha Hartmann, emphasized the endeavor to make a valuable contribution to the Capital of Culture.

The star march included several thematic tours to striking struggles in Chemnitz. Overall, the following tours were on the program:

  • tour 1: with monk Thomasius (guided guider Thomas Mehnert) via the park "Helgoland" to the Schlossberg (duration: approx. 1.5 hours).
  • Tour 2: "The Schönherrfabrik can be a cultural capital" with Bertha Hartmann (tour guide Ramona Wagner) and Johanna Schönherr (guided guider Karin Meisel), brief talk about the Schönherrfabrik (duration: approx. 2 hours).
  • Tour 3: Richard Hartmann and Paula Möbius (tour guide Eberhard Fiebig and Veronika Leonhardt) showed an artistic spare parts warehouse in the Saxon Vehicle Museum and the intervention area on the railway Viaduct (duration: approx. 2 hours).
  • Tour 4: "From the workers 'metropolis to the scene district" with tour guide René Bzdok, which gave an insight into the Chemnitz workers' culture and the current cultural scene of the "Bahnhofsviertel" Brühl and Sonnenberg.

The event was not only a cultural -touristic attraction, but also a view of the planned large opening ceremony by the KulturAptstadt gGmbH. In advance, prior registration was required for the introduction in the Hartmann factory due to the limited space capacity.
