In the early morning of November 3, 2024, a trip from Prague to Dresden abruptly ended at the Breitenau border crossing for a 42-year-old German. During the entry control, the officers discovered several open arrest warrants against him - a shock for the traveler who apparently did not expect such a setback!

Draconian prison sentence

The Chemnitz public prosecutor was looking for the man for serious offenses: threat, violation of the Violence Protection Act and fraud. When the officials presented him with the arrest warrants, he quickly realized that he could not pay the due fines of a total of 8,535.59 euros. The consequence? The 42-year-old must now stay in the Dresden correctional facility for the next 224 days!
