A remarkable change is imminent! Christine Marquardt, who triumphs with her passion for music theater, will be the new opera director of the Chemnitz City Theater from August 1, 2025

The Leipzig native will succeed Jürgen Reitzler in Chemnitz. Marquardt, who studied singing at the Dresden Music Academy, has plenty of experience. Her career began in 2009 as a director at the Hessian State Theater Wiesbaden and led her over the Baden State Theater Karlsruhe and the Semperoper Dresden to the Klagenfurt City Theater. Your vision? To bring the opera even closer to people with a colorful program!

Marquardt has set itself the goal of inspiring children and adolescents for the music theater. "It is a big affair for the heart," emphasizes the new director.
