Chemnitz, Deutschland - Chemnitz will be a cultural capital of Europe in 2025 and sets completely new accents! The focus is not only on promoting democracy, but also a return to the deep cultural roots in Eastern Europe. The organizers have announced an exciting program that creates numerous projects to strengthen social cohesion. The kick -off events already started with the opening of an exhibition on mining!
Overall, spectacular thousand events, workshops, concerts and festivals are planned under the motto "C the Unseen" (in German: "See the unseen") by the end of next year. The big kick-off for the cultural capital year is scheduled for January 18. Chemnitz will present itself together with 38 other cities in an unprecedented cultural exchange.
Focus on Eastern Europe and Culture
Mayor Sven Schulze (CDU) emphasizes that Chemnitz is on the way to his best. This is a milestone for the entire cultural region! Particular attention is paid to the "Eastern European mentality", which Chemnitz has shaped as a city in Western Europe. One of the highlights is the project "3000 garages", which puts the fascinating stories from the city's approximately 30,000 garages-a legacy from the GDR era!
The European Workshop for Culture and Democracy is one of the main projects in which the exchange between the generations and the people from Chemnitz and the neighboring countries are encouraged.
