Chemnitz in the shadow of addiction: Children suffer silently from drug parents
Chemnitz, Deutschland - Chemnitz.
in Chemnitz, the secret capital of the Crystal Meth consumers in Germany, a courageous step is taken to illuminate the dark shadows of addiction! Konstanze Wolter, a 46-year-old gallery owner, has decided to draw attention to the devastating effects of drug addiction to children with a unique charity campaign. According to a study by the European observation center for drugs and drug addiction (EMCDDA), over three million children suffer from the consequences of their parents' addiction. Wolter, who knows the needs of these children from their own experience, says: "Children are the weakest member of a family." Your everyday life is shaped by fear and helplessness while trying to preserve the "family secret".
art as a weapon against silence
To break the silence, Wolter plans an exhibition that presents the work of the Braunschweig artist Hanna Nitsch. The picture entitled "Elisabeth" is intended to draw attention to the often invisible help offers of family-oriented addiction and drug advice. Wolter explains: "It is important to me to show the bleeding heart of this injured child." The emotional ink painting should stimulate the viewers to think and make the city's dark side visible. "It polarizes its viewers - but does not leave anyone untouched," she emphasizes.
On January 18, a panel discussion will take place in the new rooms of the gallery in order to illuminate the topic of "relatives of drug use people". Experts from art and prevention will be present to discuss the background. Interested parties can also acquire hand -signed pigment prints from the "Elisabeth" work to support family -oriented addiction aid from the Chemnitz City Mission. Pre -orders are already possible! Wolter calls up to deal with the reality of addiction and not to lose sight of the affected children.
