Election in Bautzen: Helpers wanted for the big day on February 23!
On January 7, 2025, the city of Bautzen announced that election workers are urgently sought for the upcoming election date on February 23, 2025. These supporters are essential for the smooth running of the election in 23 electoral districts and 9 postal voting locations.
The election workers receive an allowance in the form of a refreshment allowance. The prerequisite for cooperation is that the interested parties are at least 18 years old on election day, have German citizenship or that of an EU member state and have been resident in Bautzen for at least three months
tasks and organization of the election
The tasks of the election workers include examining the election entitlement and the issue of the ballot papers. They are also responsible for counting the votes at the end of the election day. The polling stations are open on the election day from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the votes are counted on the same evening on site.
interested persons can contact a completed form of "Royalty declaration to work on an election board". The contact can be made via the E-Mail address Innerer-Service (at) bautzen.de or by phone at 03591 534-101.
In addition to the information from Bautzen, the Federal election manager more closely evaluated the tasks of the election workers and the organizational processes. The election workers must ensure the proper execution of the election, monitor the election process and release the ballot box for the insertion of the ballot papers. They also support voters with disabilities during voting and take on tasks such as counting the votes and the creation of a record of the actions and results.
The polling stations open at 8:00 a.m. and remain open until 6:00 p.m. The votes are counted after the polling stations are closed, whereby the duration of the count depends on the scope of the choice. The legal foundations for this are anchored in the Federal Election Act (BWG) and the Federal Election Code (BWO).
