Refurbishment of the BSZ Hoyerswerda: warmth and new windows until 2026!

Hoyerswerda. A huge construction project has started! The vocational school center (BSZ) in Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße is extensively renovated with an impressive sum of 6.9 million euros. The Bautzen district administration has recognized the signs of the times: the building, which is over 30 years old, urgently needs a refreshment. The scaffolding is visible from afar, while construction vehicles park on the school premises. Not only is it renovated here, but also the future of the students!

The heating problem, which caused uncomfortable temperatures in the cold months, is now a thing of the past. The dilapidated heating system is renewed and the students can look forward to warm lessons. "All rooms can be heated again," confirms the district administration. Another step in the right direction, because in the past it was hard to endure in many classrooms between late autumn and spring. The renewal of the radiators and the district heating station is planned for 2025 - a ray of hope for everyone!

But that's not all! The windows of the BSZ are also in a catastrophic state. Many could no longer be opened, which significantly impaired air circulation. Now the old windows are replaced by new, modern models. Containers full of old windows testify to the extensive work that is done here. The broken venetian blinds, which caused unbearable temperatures in the hot summer months, are also replaced. The district administration also has the entire glass facade checked for defects - nothing is left to chance!

However, the construction work is far from complete. There will still be a tilting here until summer 2026! In the summer holidays 2025, energetic renovations of the entrance hall and the auditorium, including thermal protection measures. The new fire protection concept will also bring changes, including new smoke alarms and fire protection doors. The students and teachers can look forward to a modern, safe and warm learning environment!
