In Bischofswerda: New inclusive carousel delights children of all kinds!

Bischofswerda. A new carousel in Schillerpark causes excitement! This play equipment is not just another carousel - it is an inclusive miracle that offers children with and without disabilities the opportunity to play together. On a large, ground -level window with semicircular benches, wheelchair users can easily take a seat and have fun with other children!

The innovative construction is not just a play equipment, but a symbol of inclusion! David Gratzl from the project "Bischofswerda Inclusive" emphasizes: "It is not a play equipment for children with disabilities - but can be used for as far as possible." Already in the first few days after the opening, children like the almost two -year -old Anton and the six -year -old Neele enthusiastically made their rounds. The joy is noticeable if you alternately push the carousel!

First public inclusive play equipment in the bautzen district?

This carousel could be the first of its kind in the Bautzen district! Neither in Bischofswerda nor throughout the circle are known to other comparable play equipment. Franziska Pohling, Commissioner for People with Disabilities in the Bautzen district office, confirms: "Sometimes inclusion works on its own and in secret." The carousel cost 16,000 euros, financed by the Herrmann Foundation, which is committed to promoting child and youth welfare.

The idea for this inclusive play equipment was already created in 2020 by the "Bischofswerda Inclusive" initiative. City Councilor Sven Urban (SPD) brought the proposal into the committees, and now children can finally play together! "Despite the long duration, we are very happy about this success to strengthen the inclusive urban development," said Gratzl. A big step in the right direction for Bischofswerda!
