Bautzen celebrates: train station of 2024 with new splendor!

The Bautzen station, a jewel of the transport infrastructure, was voted "station of 2024"! The jury of "Allianz Pro Schiene" was enthusiastic about the listed facade and the modern waiting area, which comes up with a lounge, café and free WiFi. But not everything is perfect: a changing area for small children is missing, which could disappoint some families. Despite these small defects, the excellent accessibility to the tracks was highlighted, which makes the station a model for others.

Before the comprehensive renovation, the building was about to decay. The district council decided in 2016 to accommodate parts of the district office in the train station, which gave the decisive impetus for the rescue concept.
