MT Melsungen impressively prevails against SC Magdeburg!
A top-class handball spectacle took place in the Bundesliga on Saturday! The MT Melsungen defeated the defending champion SC Magdeburg with an impressive 31:23 and thus set a strong exclamation mark. While the Magdeburg players, led by national goalkeeper Andreas Wolff, disappointed the hall, the Melsungers celebrated their triumphant victory with cheers and joy.
The Melsung team was superior in all respects. Captain Christian O’Sullivan praised his team's performance: "Melsungen was better in everything. Tempo game, defense, attack." The game was still balanced in the first half, but in the second half Melsungen literally overrun Magdeburg. Keeper Nebojsa Simic shone with 20 parades and secured the title of the match winner. This defeat was the second bitter disappointment for Magdeburg this week after they had previously failed in the trophy against Kiel.
Flensburg stays tuned
While Melsungen strengthened the lead, the SG Flensburg-Handewitt remains in the race. In the prestigious Nord derby against the THW Kiel, Flensburg prevailed with 37:33, with Emil Jakobsen outlining with nine goals. Flensburg is now three points behind Melsungen and shows that the struggle for the top of the league remains exciting. Kiel now has six points behind the Melsunger and urgently has to increase so as not to lose the connection in the title race.
