The construction work itself not only includes the exchange of the course and rails, but also the renewal of the overhead lines and the renovation of an underground channel under the pitch. The MVB invests a total of 6.5 million euros in these urgently needed renovations, underlined by the already announced changes for traffic management around the square.

The second construction phase begins in July and will affect Otto-von-Guericke-Straße and Hallische Straße. All of these measures are necessary to make the infrastructure fit for the future and to secure the efficient mobility of the city.
