Mayor election in Genthin: Low participation and withdrawals provide chaos!

Genthin, Deutschland - The mayoral election in Genthin causes excitement! There are eight candidates on the ballot, including Dagmar Turian, Alexander Otto from the CDU and Udo Krause from the SPD. But the tension increases, because two candidates, Thilo Voigt and Matthias Günther, have withdrawn their participation at short notice. Despite their retreats, they are still in the race, according to election manager Carola Elsner, because the list of candidates has already been approved. If one of them is chosen, the choice could be repeated - a potential chaos for the genehine!

+++ Ticker 4:50 pm +++ The turnout remains behind the expectations! So far, only 27% of the voters have made their vote, which means a dramatic decrease of 20% compared to the election of the former mayor in June, where 60% went to the urn. So far, around 4,850 out of 11,500 eligible voters have participated. The Genthiners seem to be less motivated to choose a new mayor!

Current numbers and counts

The first numbers are there! By 2 p.m., around 2,400 citizens (approx. 21%) have given their vote, which together with the approximately 1,650 letter voters results in a turnout of around 35%. But time is urging! The polling stations close at 6 p.m. and the first results are then expected. In the morning, the turnout was still a lean 20%, with only 700 urn voters. The Genthiners are faced with a crucial choice, and the tension increases every minute!
