Construction work in the Harz: Schmalspurbahn presents operation with major challenges!

The Harz, the fascinating low mountain ranges, not only attracts breathtaking landscape lovers, but also Ardente railway fans! And again there is news that you should remember: The Harz narrow -gauge railway sets the traffic on certain routes, and that has followed!

What's going on? From September 30, 2024, the section of the route between Alexisbad and Stiege will be closed. The reason is extensive construction work that is necessary on tracks, a level crossing and a bridge over the Uhlenbach. Means: train traffic will be paralyzed in this area by the end of November, and this makes early planning essential for travelers. Unfortunately, there will be no rail replacement traffic by bus for these sections, which is a real challenge for many travelers, especially for the connections from the Thuringian southern Harz that lead from Nordhausen via Ilfeld into the Selketal.
