Rescue workers in the Altmarkkreis: Now in action as an enforcement officer!
In the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel there is a groundbreaking innovation: From December 1st, 20 emergency paramedics of the German Red Cross and the Johanniter received the powers of enforcement officers! These brave rescuers can now act faster and more effectively in critical situations. Especially at night, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., they can instruct mentally ill people against their will if they put themselves in danger.
Before this decision, the emergency paramedics often had to wait a long time for law enforcement officers from far away, such as Lüchow or Uelzen in Lower Saxony. During this time, the rescue workers were blocked for other missions. District Administrator Steve Kanitz told MDR Saxony-Anhalt that the new powers enable the emergency services to better assess the situation and to ensure the necessary treatment for mentally ill faster. This reform could revolutionize the emergency services!
important changes for the emergency services
The decision to appoint emergency paramedics to enforcement officers is a significant step to improve emergency care in the Altmark district. The new regulations not only promise faster reactions in critical moments, but also better care for people in psychological crises. These measures could save the lives of many people and significantly increase the efficiency of the emergency services!
