Halle's special school and Köthener comprehensive school win climate protection award!

Halle (Saale), Deutschland - The tension was tangible when the "Janusz Korczak" special school from Halle (Saale) and the Free School Anhalt in Köthen (Anhalt-Bitterfeld district) were awarded this year's school competition for climate protection! With prize money of 5,000 euros each, the two schools can look forward to their outstanding services. Under the motto "Fully communicative!" Schools were searched for, which integrate energy and climate protection topics creatively and sustainably into their everyday school life.

The Halle special school impressed the jury with regular climate project days, a future workshop full of climate protection materials and an innovative student company called "Korczakladen". The Köthener comprehensive school also set standards with its weekly climate, an annual climate day with exciting excursions and regular Instagram posts on the subject of sustainability. These schools impressively show how committed students and teachers fight together for climate protection!

But that wasn't everything! Minister of Climate Protection Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann and Marko Mühlstein, the head of the state energy agency, also honored four other award winners in Magdeburg. The elementary school Klostermansfeld (Mansfeld-Südharz district) secured second place and prize money of 3,000 euros, while the Pestalozzi School Aschersleben (Salzlandkreis) received third place and 1,500 euros. In the "secondary schools" category, the secondary school "Ludwig Jahn" from Freyburg (Burgenlandkreis) also took second place with 3,000 euros, and the Europagymnasium Bitterfeld (Anhalt-Bitterfeld district) received 1,500 euros for third place.

A total of 16 schools had applied for the coveted prizes, with the jury evaluating the competition contributions after effectiveness, creativity and transferability.
