Saarlouis starts road safety campaign: focus!
Fraulautern, Deutschland - The city of Saarlouis pulls all the stops to increase traffic safety! Mayor Marc Speicher (CDU) announced an exciting initiative on Monday, November 18, 2024: In the coming weeks, targeted speed controls will be held at schools and daycare centers. A clear call to all road users to take responsibility and to ensure the safety of the little ones!
"It must be flashed with a focus on where it makes sense," emphasizes Speicher. The city does not want to give the impression that it is only money. District Administrator Patrik Lauer (SPD) warns: ruthless driving style not only endangers road users, but especially children and adolescents. The new campaign should start here and defuse dangerous situations.
poster campaign for sensitization
The starting signal for the campaign "Fit Off" was found at the Martin Luther King School in Fraulautern. The initiative is accompanied by a striking poster campaign, which calls on all road users to pay particular attention to children and students. This cooperation with the district and the German traffic watch aims to raise awareness of the security in road traffic.
In addition, Maik Müller, chairman of the Saarlouis roundabout, appeals to all drivers to switch on the light on the vehicle in the dark autumn and winter months. "A clearly visible lighting and an adapted driving style are crucial to recognize weaker road users like children in good time," explains Müller. Especially at dusk, children are often difficult to see and are therefore particularly at risk. Saarlouis does everything possible to make the streets safer - for our children!
