Discover the secrets of the Gersweiler composting system!
The municipal composting system in Gersweiler opens its goals for a special event on Thursday, October 10th. From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., the facility is accessible to interested parties who want to learn more about the development of high -quality compost. The central municipal disposal company (ZKE) and the adult education center of the Saarbrücken Regional Association (VHS) organize this tour.
The composting system is located in the Friedhofsweg in Gersweiler and has been operated by the ZKE since 2015. Certified compost products in organic quality are produced there from cutting cuts by bushes, trees and garden areas. This sustainable practice contributes to the environmentally friendly waste recycling by using organic waste that would otherwise possibly end up in the trash.
tour with experts
The participants have the opportunity to explore the 10,000 square meter site and to observe the various steps of compost production. The experts will explain how the starting material is shredded, sieved and then implemented in compost rents. This practical experience conveys a deep understanding of the value of composting and sustainable waste management.
Participation in the inspection is free of charge, but the number of places is limited to 20 people. Interested parties should register via the VHS by Wednesday, October 9th to secure a place. Since the leadership takes place outdoors, it is recommended to pay attention to adequate clothing and solid shoes.
