Deutsche Bahn has reason to be happy! Despite the extensive renovation work on the Riedbahn, which has been underway since July, the punctuality of the long -distance trains shows with 74 percent. A visit to the state -of -the -art network control center in Frankfurt reveals how the company mastered the challenges and efficiently redirects traffic. From Sunday, December 15th, the Riedbahn will be released again for regular train traffic, on time for the change of timetable! During the construction work, the train has redirected 300 trains that normally ride on this route. Readings and long -distance trains were sent to alternative routes, which has extended the travel times by an average of 30 minutes. The fastest connections even had to plan 20 minutes more. Despite these challenges, a survey shows that 86 percent of passengers are satisfied with the diversions - a remarkable increase in 8 percentage points since the start of the work.

The diversions were carefully planned to maintain traffic. Regional trains were replaced by buses and the capacity of the regional express trains was increased. Around two thirds of the original offer could be maintained. Alina Hoffmann and her team started planning 24 months before the start of construction and are now preparing for the next major renovation, which will take place in the second half of 2026 on the "Right Rhein Wiesbaden Troisdorf" route.
