Farewell to Lützenkirchen: Worms traditional business closes after 125 years

Hafergasse 7, 67547 Worms, Deutschland - An emotional farewell is imminent! The traditional kitchen shop "Lützenkirchen" in Worms, which has over 125 years of history, closes its doors. The owners Günter and Anja Hofmeister made the difficult decision to close the shop at Hafergasse 7 by the end of March at the latest. "We have lived through all the ups and downs," Günter Hofmeister, gratefully, looks back on the loyal clientele who has accompanied him over 35 years. Generations of families have bought here and close friendships were created.

But the challenges of modern trade and personal reasons force the Hofmeister to take this step. "We are now facing completely different challenges," explains Hofmeister. The closure raises questions: Where will you find such a kitchen shop in the future? Even on a Wednesday morning, the business was overcrowded when the Mercury reporters were visiting. "There are many orders to grind knives," reports Hofmeister, who encourages customers to use the remaining time until closure.

over 125 years of tradition

"Lützenkirchen" has changed a lot over the years. Originally founded in Solingen, the oldest owner -managed shop in Worms has been offering a wide range of products since 1896, from cutlery to razor to leisure meters. The focus today is on kitchen utensils, including a cooking knife series of its own. Weapons have not been sold since 2011, but the tradition of scissors and knives remains: "They have been our DNA since 1896," said Hofmeister. The Hofmeister took over the business in 1989 from the founding family and thus secured the continued existence of this Worms institution. If you are interested in continuing the inheritance, please feel free to contact you - the shelves are ready!
