Students experience police up close: exciting insights into Montabaur!

The Montabaur police inspection had a special guest visit on September 27, 2024, which became an exciting experience for the students of the sixth classes of the Raiffeisen campus in Dernbach. Together with three accompanying persons, 26 students were able to explore the premises of the police inspection. After a friendly greeting, the tour began, among other things, a look at the custody cell, where the students could experience up close how it is when the heavy metal door was closed. Such experiences are not commonplace, and the students were visibly impressed.

In addition, the participants had the opportunity to create their own fingerprints and analyze them. However, this was not the only practical element of the day. Police commissioner Angela Eberth, who was responsible for organizing the morning, led the group to a radio patrol car. There she explained the various equipment features of the vehicle to the students, which caused many questions and great interest. At the end of the visit, the students were able to demonstrate their physical fitness in a police relay race, in which they were equipped with a commitment belt and a protective vest.

workshop for career prospects

At the same time to visit the police, the project day “Parents Make Campus” took place on the Raiffeisen campus. The day served the professional and study orientation and offered the students the opportunity to get to know different professions in 90-minute workshops. A team of part -time attendants, consisting of police officers from the Montabaur police inspection and the Montabaur police motorway station, headed a workshop entitled "The police profession - a job like no other". A total of 29 students of the lower and upper level had registered for this and showed a great interest in the work of the police.

In the workshop, the students were informed about the various requirements and opportunities in the police profession. It was explained which prerequisites for an application are necessary, what is to be expected during the study and which equipment is used. The students found the practical demonstrations particularly exciting, such as securing fingerprint traces and creating heavy protective equipment. The diverse design of the workshop, including the opportunity to ask questions, gave the students to gain a deep insight into the everyday life of police officers.

At the end of each event there was a big question and answer session in which the hiring consultants, police commissioner Andrè Janz and police commissioner Sarah Richter, answered questions from the students. This opportunity to talk directly to relevant topics directly with experienced officials was greatly appreciated by the students. Many took the opportunity to discuss personal concerns or general questions about the profession, which led to interesting and revealing conversations.

In order to further support the police's initiative, it is important to clarify the younger generation at an early stage about the opportunities and challenges in this professional field. Visiting the students and the workshops on the Raiffeisen Campus show how significant such actions are for promoting young talents.
