In Trier and the district of Trier-Saarburg, a revolutionary system for life rescue is now being introduced: the "region of lifesaver" app. From now on, everyone can register with medical or emergency services training in order to be alerted immediately in an emergency if someone near them suffers a cardiovascular arrest. This innovative app is the first of its kind in Rhineland-Palatinate and could bring crucial minutes to save life!

"Every minute counts!" Emphasizes Dr. Dirk Nauheimer from the Brothers Hospital Clinic. The senior physician, one of the main initiators of this app, makes it clear that the first few minutes after a cardiac arrest are decisive. In Germany, over 50,000 people die from cardiovascular homes every year, and only every tenth survivor has a good quality of life after such an emergency. "If it is not responded within five to eight minutes, the chances of survival drop dramatically," warns Nauheimer.

The app should bridge the period between the emergency call and the arrival service. Ralf Britten, who is responsible for the fire brigade and emergency services, emphasizes that the first aiders play a key role. "In 85 percent of the cases we are on site in less than eight minutes," he explains. But the app can help to bridge the time until the emergency services arrive and save life. "We do something to be able to help you effectively in an emergency," added District Administrator Stefan Metzdorf.

The app is a development of the “Region of Lifesaver” association from Freiburg. Dr. Andreas Palzer, deputy fire chief in Trier, met the system and is convinced of its effectiveness. The app is automatically activated on an emergency call via 112 and registered first aiders receive a pre -alarm. "The system is constantly being developed and evaluated," explains Dr. Judith Joos, managing director of the association.
