Straelen. A moving pilgrimage adventure: 58 pilgrims of the parish of St. Peter and Paul from Straelen went to the 41st autumn pilgrimage to worship Saint Matthias in the historic city of Trier. A committed organization team, led by the pilgrimage parents Petra and Jürgen Jacobs, together with Elisabeth and Josef Theunissen and other supporters, ensured a smooth process. Special thanks go to Senior hiking guide Toni von Pluto, who had the hiking concerns under control and always kept in touch with the organization team.

In Orenhofen, the pilgrims moved into their overnight hall and got to know each other better during various activities. In the evening, pilgrims were designed and postcards were written to former pilgrims and donors. If the adventure begins with a trade fair, which was celebrated by Pastor Ludwig and his preparation team, the pilgrimage days culminated in a solemn closing service in the Abbey Church of St. Matthias, the topic "The future has peace" brought everyone to think and come together.

The pilgrimage route of around 80 kilometers was characterized by joy and community. Laughing, stories, prayers and silent moments accompanied the pilgrims on their way. The new pilgrim queen "Augusta" (Maria Taxen) was presented as the crowning glory, who pilgrims for the tenth time. There were spellbinding moments when she was pulled through the hall with two gladiators in a charm and celebrated enthusiastically by the pilgrims. Likewise, the children's rifle king Moritz Malzkorn, supported by Felix Malzkorn and Edda Basten, experienced a triumphal moment under the direction of Alfons Mays.

The "Colorful evening" with lectures and a music -charged quiz was a complete success that brought a lot of fun and joy. After another mass on Friday in Trier, the pilgrims started their return trip and found themselves for the mutual prayer in St. Peter and Paul, where anniversaries were honored.
