Grief and crisis pastoral care: New training offer for teachers!

Speyer, Deutschland - In the school year 2024/25, an exciting new chapter in mourning and crisis pastoral care starts at schools! In a unique cooperation between the main departments I (pastoral care) and II (schools, universities, education) of the diocese of Speyer and the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate, the ecumenical training course "mourning and crisis pastoral care" is offered. Teachers of all types of school are invited to participate in this innovative program, which conveys the basics for working in mourning and crisis pastoral care in 40 exciting teaching units of 45 minutes.

The course is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the first part, which takes place blocked for two days, there are central topics such as psychotraumatology, grief and resilience on the curriculum. Not only the participants' own self -image, but also the church mandate is intensively illuminated here. The practical part, which is carried out over three daily events, offers the opportunity to practice difficult conversation situations in role -playing games. This includes killing death messages and dealing with emotional challenges in crisis situations. In addition, the participants receive valuable information for crisis management at schools, especially with special challenges such as suicide or gauge.
