Speyer starts new children's table: eating, playing and learning for kids!

Heinrich-Heine-Straße 8, 67346 Speyer, Deutschland - Speyer celebrates the return of the children's table! After numerous delays, the time has finally come: The cooperation project between the Pax Christi Dompfarrei and the Red Cross opened its doors on Friday in the St. Hedwig community center. Here a place is created twice a week where cooked, eaten, played and learned. A real ray of hope for the children in the region!

"Finally start!" Calls the passionate children's table manager Nomena Becker, who, at the age of 26, already has an impressive career in child and youth work. Under the motto "Eating - Playing - Cooking - Understanding" she would like to offer children in need for an unforgettable time. The doors are open on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 1 p.m. "We cook and eat together," explains Becker, while the Speyerer Tafel donates the necessary food. In the brand new kitchen of the community center, not only cooks, but also creates a creative environment in which the children can playfully learn how to use food.

a place of hope

The children's table starts with three children, but Becker hopes for numerous further registrations. "The need must have been proven," she emphasizes, while emphasizing the capacity of up to 25 children in the generous 120 square meters of the new dining area, play and creative space. Thanks to the support of numerous entrepreneurs, donors and volunteers, this project could finally be realized. Pastoral advisor Markus Lamm emphasizes the renovation work of the unused space for years by Lucas Weber, while many local actors, including the St. Vincentius Hospital and the food savers Mareike and Andreas Steyer, actively contributed to financing and implementation.

"What lasts for a long time will finally become good", according to DRK boss Maurice Main and Lamb, who appreciate the long way to reopen the children's table. A new glimmer of hope for Speyer's children is born!
