Rescue workers practice on the Altrhein: Big exercise in the Reffenthal starts!

In Reffenthal, there is a significant training on the program, which takes place from Thursday to Sunday. Around 300 emergency services from the Technical Relief Agency (THW), the fire brigade and the water watch from the German Red Cross take part in this comprehensive exercise weekend. The exercises are designed to prepare the participants for real emergencies and take place at the water exercise area in Reffenthal. The population is asked to consider possible increased activities of emergency vehicles during this time.

The highlight of the four days will be the big joint exercise on Saturday morning, which is carried out on the old Rhine in the Reffenthal area. In advance, however, a night trip on Friday evening is planned, which will enable the emergency services to practice the handling of the watercraft under difficult conditions. Such scenarios are crucial because they simulate the reality of an emergency in which quick and precise decisions are required.

workshops and teamwork

As the THW emphasizes, not only the practical exercises are important, but also preparation by workshops. Among other things, these address the rescue of people in and on the water, which can often occur in practice. The participants not only learn technical skills, but also mutual teamwork, which is essential in an emergency. "Getting to know each other is also important - this is the only way to work in an emergency," explain representatives of the THW.

The four days of training are not only an opportunity to train the technical skills of the emergency services, but also to promote interaction and communication that are of central importance for successful operations.

With regard to the increasing challenges due to natural disasters or technical accidents, such a comprehensive exercise in the area of emergency services is of enormous importance. The coordination between different emergency services must work smoothly in stressful situations, which is promoted by such joint exercises. Further information about the exercise and its process can be viewed on the website of the THW and other relevant platforms. Details on this training are also at www.rheinpfalz.de to be found.
