Workshops for people with disabilities: quality of life in danger!
shocking developments in Schifferstadt and Mainz! The workshops for disabled people face an existential threat! Patrick Kunz, the committed member of the state parliament of the Free Voters, urges the catastrophic consequences of deleting funding. These facilities are not only a job, but also offer a safe, supportive environment that is tailored to the individual needs of people with disabilities. "Without the necessary support, these valuable workshops cannot survive," warns Kunz.
The new "Law to promote an inclusive labor market", which came into force on January 1, 2024, aims to integrate more people with disabilities into regular employment relationships. But the price for this could be high! Employers who do not meet their obligation to work are faced with drastically increased compensation taxes from 2025. At the same time, institutional grants for workshops, which represent an indispensable livelihood for many people, are at risk of falling away. "This is a dangerous development!" Warns Kunz. "The social value of these institutions must not be underestimated."
irreplaceable support for people with disabilities
In conversations with the employees, it becomes clear again and again how important these workshops are for well -being, self -esteem and quality of life of people. "This support is priceless for our disabled citizens," emphasizes Kunz and appeals to the federal government: "Do not forget the citizens for whom full -time employment on the free labor market is not possible!" The future of the workshops is on the brink - it is high time that politics acts!
